This Privacy Policy applies to the Android app "Android Screen Translator" (package name: com.zhang.androidscreentranslator). The app recognizes text from screen captures on your device and translates it into the target language you choose.
1. Information We Process
The app may process the following information on your device:
- Screen capture content: used only after you grant screen capture permission and start translation, for recognizing and translating text on the screen.
- App settings: source language, target language, auto-detect preference, optimization mode, permission guide status, and similar preferences.
- Advertising information: the app integrates the Unity LevelPlay mediation SDK. Unity LevelPlay and its configured advertising partners may process device identifiers, advertising identifiers, IP address, ad impressions, ad interactions, and related information according to their respective policies for ad delivery, frequency capping, fraud prevention, and analytics.
- Language model download information: offline OCR, language identification, and translation use Google ML Kit. Some models may be downloaded from Google services, which may create network requests and standard connection logs.
- Online translation content: only when you confirm and select Online Mode, recognized text is sent to the DeepSeek API to generate translations. Screen capture images are not sent to DeepSeek.
2. How We Use Information
The app uses this information to:
- Recognize screen text locally and generate translation results.
- Remember language, mode, and permission-related settings.
- Show interstitial or rewarded ads.
- Download or update local recognition, language identification, and translation models.
- Maintain app stability, feature availability, and basic security.
3. Screen Content and Translation Content
Screen captures are processed on your device and are not uploaded by the translation feature. Offline and Offline Enhanced modes keep OCR text and translation processing on the device. When you explicitly select Online Mode, recognized text is sent to DeepSeek for translation; the screenshot itself is not sent. Do not use Online Mode for sensitive screen content.
Please note that your device, system services, Google Play services, input methods, accessibility services, advertising SDKs, or other third-party software may have their own data processing practices. Those practices are governed by the privacy policies of the relevant providers.
4. Third-Party Services
The app uses these third-party services:
- Google ML Kit: provides local OCR, language identification, and local translation model capabilities. Some models may be downloaded over the network.
- Unity LevelPlay mediation SDK: displays interstitial and rewarded ads.
- DeepSeek API: provides translation only when Online Mode is selected and receives recognized text required for that request.

5. Android Permissions
The app may request these permissions:
- INTERNET: used for loading ads, downloading language models, and online translation after you select Online Mode.
- SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW: used to show the floating translation button or translation results above other apps.
- FOREGROUND_SERVICE and FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PROJECTION: used to keep a foreground service active during screen capture translation.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS: used on Android 13 and above to show foreground service notifications.
- Screen capture authorization: granted through a one-time Android system dialog, used to capture the current screen and recognize text.
The app does not use these permissions to read your accounts, contacts, SMS messages, photo gallery, precise location, or call records.
6. Data Storage and Retention
App settings are stored locally on your device. Screen captures, recognized text, and translated text are not saved as translation history by this app. You can delete local app data by clearing app data in system settings or uninstalling the app.
Data generated by advertising SDKs or Google services is retained according to the policies of the corresponding third-party services.
7. Data Sharing
The app does not sell your personal information. Screen captures are not shared with DeepSeek or servers operated by us. Online Mode sends recognized text to DeepSeek solely to provide the requested translation.
To provide ads and model downloads, Unity LevelPlay and its configured advertising partners, Google Play services, or Google ML Kit may receive necessary device, network, advertising, or model download related information.
8. Child Privacy
The app is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to the app or related third-party services without guardian consent, please contact us through the developer contact information shown on the app store page.
9. Your Choices
You can:
- Decline or revoke floating window permission.
- Choose not to start screen capture translation.
- Disable notification permission in system settings.
- Clear this app data in system settings.
- Uninstall the app to delete locally stored data.
- Manage advertising personalization options in Android or Google settings.
- Use an offline mode instead of Online Mode so recognized text remains on the device.
10. Policy Updates
If the data processing practices of the app change, we may update this Privacy Policy. Updated versions will be provided with project files or app releases and will take effect on the stated effective date.
